Hello Terry.
I have a question regarding the Windows 7 Upgrade program:
When you buy a new Thinkpad Tx00 with Vista downgraded to XP, does this (i assume one gets a valid Vista license with the Thinkpad even if downgraded to XP) qualify for an upgrade to Windows 7?
thank you for your reply

In order to be eligable for the Win 7 upgrade, the machine must be purchased on or after June 25th, 2009.

Models purchased prior to upgrade date are not eligable for the upgrade program.
I'm sorry, but there will not be a Win 7 preload for the U110.
Your best bet is to purchase a copy of Windows 7 when it's available and use TVSU to install / update drivers.

I have just tried the link today and there is a large shipping charge $17.xx. shipped in October.
Does anybody knows how many CD/DVD do we get for that price ?

guess you're getting the whole upgrading pack...i mean, every little thing you need to upgrade from vista to 7...
no more, no less
i was surprised today when i saw that the upgrading pack is going to be delivered to, mostly, every country even if you bought the computer somewhere else... can anybody confirm this last thing?
thanks.

I understand the free update is only for purchase made between the mentionned dates. But for users who have been using VU since 2008, what is foreseen / advisable
- will Lenovo offers (against fees) an OEM VU to W7U upgrade
- shall the user purchase a MS W7 pack since most likely the OEM will not give right to anything
Is lenovo foreseeing anything for 'older' users ?
Thanks and best regards

I swear, Lenovo and HP are actively conspiring against me. Both of the laptops I purchased in the time between 7/8-7/17 are giving me problems when I sign up.
I purchased my W500 on 7/8/09, and when I sign up, I get this: "The Serial Number you have entered is invalid. Please check again. If you continue to have difficulties, please contact Lenovo support center."
My serial number is valid, my purchase date is valid.
So, what's the deal?
