I have tried doing an upgrade, and then I've tried clean install, in both instances had ended up with under the title " other devices" two items with no driver's titled " base system device". Obviously with the device is not being identified, it is difficult trying to look for a driver for them. Can anybody make any suggestions please?
I have to laptops exactly the same Lenovo N500 4233 32g., And so I have taken pictures of the device manager information, on both my Windows Vista laptop and my windows seven laptop to compare. They are listed below win7 [1] win vista [1] win7 [2] win vista [2] win7 [3] win vista [3]
If you want to compare them side by side, it would probably be worth opening two Internet explorer windows. I have marked with a dot the items I think maybe interesting, and I have marked with a double dot the items that I think maybe suspects for the missing drivers.

Hello:
The problem you have encountered has been reported before. It is not actually a flaw with the computer or the drivers from Lenovo, it arises because the list of beta drivers that Lenovo provides for Windows 7 is not yet fully complete.
Fortunately, you can use existing Windows Vista drivers (appropriate to your machine) to fill in the gaps.
If you did an upgrade install of W7, right click on an item with a missing driver, choose "Update Driver", tell the computer you will browse for the driver yourself, then point the computer to the "C:\drivers\" folder. It will find the missing driver in there and install it. You will need to do this for each missing item.
If you did a clean install, go to the Lenovo Device Driver File Matrix (DDFM) for your machine, and download all the appropriate VISTA drivers for your machine except for the ones that you already have Windows 7 beta drivers for. Then expand these driver packages - the contents will be installed to the "C:\drivers\" folder. Then, do what I said in the paragraph above.

I presume you mean here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
The thing I noticed there was most tell you which model they are applicable to, and most of them don't include N500.
However, thanks very much for your input, and I am in the process now of downloading them ALL, and trying to do what you had said.
