Movie seems darker in y470?

Hi, all,

last week, I got my new Y470 laptop with Windows7 home premium 64bit. I connected it to an external LCD monitor (LG Flatron w2253TQ). If I play a movie using Media Player Classic home theater or VLC player, it seems darker. But if I use Windows Media Player which comes with windows7, it shows brighter. Do you know what is the problem? This monitor has been working properly with my old Dell Inspiron6400 with XP pro.

hey bigworld005,

if on Windows Media Player the videos are brighter and if on MPC or VLC it is dark, i would suggest playing with the settings in both MPC and VLC.

i'm suspecting the "level" and "gamma/brightness" needs to be set.

btw, these "dark" movies occur on what format? avi ? mkv? ogm ?
