Hello,
my Win 7 64-bit on a T420 lacks four drivers, and I don't know which one. Unfortunately, the product number of this Thinkpad is not to be found on the software/driver support site (which is kind of odd) and also not supported in IE9 automatic product number determination. So far all drivers from the next lower product number worked. The remaining devices I did not find a driver for are:
Base System Device
PCI Serial Port
PCI Simple Communication Controller
SM Bus Controller
Does anyone know which drivers I need and what these hardware components are?

Hey guys,
I'm missing the Base System Device
and the Lenovo Tech guy said that he couldn't help me look for it ![]()
I'm pretty sure I downloaded all the drivers since I'm trying to configure it to our Windows Deployment Server.
Any help will be much appreciated ^^

Hi,
I followed the links you provided and they worked! However, I have another 2 devices which I am unable to find the correct drivers for:
Network Controller
Unknown Device
Appreciate if you can point me in the right direction for the drivers.
Many thanks!

Hi alwynng and welcome to the forum!
What is 7 character product number of your T420? It looks like 2668-KHU and cane be found on the back.
Usually 'Unknown device' is TPM (Trusted Platform Module) or Power Management driver. Network controller is wireless (I can only point you to the driver if you tell us your product number).
Hope this helps.

I have the same issue with the network controller. How do I find the information needed for it? Is that the reason why I can not detect any wireless card in the device manager?

Hi Mahila,
I have the same problem. My device manager shows a Network controller in other devices and my wifi is not working. My product id is 4236 - QD8 and I downloaded the wireless driver from http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mob
but it doesn't seem to help.
