Interesting thing about switchable graphics:
Power saving mode - only Intel card shows up in device manager
High performance mode - both cards show up in device manager.......should it be this way?

I will check as soon as I get home. Are you guys experiencing very low battery life because of this?

when im on the intel, i have 2hrs 50 mins battery....not close to the 3.5 hrs that tonyca has

I was getting less than 2hrs battery life before the BIOS update now it is reporting over 5hrs battery life. However I don't how much I trust the number because it seems to fluctuate from up to 6 hours then it drops to 4:30 within minutes.

can you confirm that you see 2 display devices in the device manager when on discrete and only one on the intel?
maybe my battery number was low because i was doing some other stuff in the background.
Also, is downloading the ATI driver and the sound one (the biggest size drivers) taking forever?!

feng303, yea those drivers take forever to download for some reason. I'll let you know if I see 2 display devices when i get home from work.
Anybody have any luck getting VeriFace to work on Windows 7 64 bit at all?

The numbers flaucated too much right now. I have to do more testing. But I know for sure I'm getting 3 hrs on battery life. I'm trying to play with the power settings right now in order to get more. I will report my findings once I'm done testing.
Can someone run balance power scheme and tell me if they are getting better battery life? For some reason I'm getting better numbers in balance. I dunno, could be a glitch and it's incorrectly reporting.

Veriface is working. But I installed Veriface 3.5 from Ideapad Y650 driver. It is driver for Vista 32Bit but it works. I installed it in Vista compatibility mode and as a administrator.

Anyone else notice that the screen brightness can't be turned down as far as vista ? When I turned it all the way down in vista the screen went to no backlight almost, which was great for low light usage.
Also, I updated the bios and im not sure if I am getting any better battery or not, about 2:45 on integrated and energy star modified with a low CPU speed.
