I have installed Windows 7 on my X300 which is running XP. I can boot into XP or Windows 7 but pressing the ThinkVantage button just gives me the option to choose boot device (as F12), BIOS config or normal boot - no recovery option.
As it is a second hand system, I don't know if it worked before I installed Win 7 but I now recall that I had a similar problem on a Lenovo that I installed Linux on. It seems quite possible that installing a new OS with its boot manager could affect the R&R partition.
Have others had the same problem?
