Depends on the CD ROM vendor i guess. Find out what CDROM drive is in your system and try to find the driver on that vendors website? Or use Lenovo system update, but that will give you Lenovo drivers and programs. If that is not what you want than go for the first option.

so... i have 32 bit system, but i want to make an upgrade to 64 bit... lenovo has the so-called"Free update to win 7" (which is actually for 18 euro) for all laptops bought between june 2009 till january 2010. question is: can i buy the 64 bit upgrade instead of 32 bit and make a clean install? will it work? i'm asking the same question probably, but i'm wondering if the update from lenovo works as a standalone or you need vista installed... thx for reply and greetings from Poland

If your system is 32 bit you get a 32 bit upgrade period end of sentence.
I do not know if it will install without an existing OS.
You can do a clean (custom) install that formats the disk but I think it
looks for a valid OS before you get to that step.
There are workarounds if it doesn't.

Google "Belarc Adivisor", download and run it it will tell you everything about your system including whether you can run 64 bit software. Before you spend $ or send it in.
