Originally, my x61T had Vista Business from which I had created backup disks. I formatted the hard drive and installed the Win 7 beta. When Win 7 RC became available, I decided to reload with Lenovo CDs and then upgrade to Win 7 RC. I began the project (being stunned at how many upgrades I had to do to get it ready for the update) and 2 days later had it (almost) ready to test.
It would not recognize the keyboard or scrollpoint. I added a keyboard and updated the drivers (remember this had all been working in Vista). I had Firefox installed and set up before upgrading but finally had to remove it and reinstall it. I have not been through everything but am hopeful.
I think it is all working now; but, in the lower right-hand display corner, the words "Windows 7 Evaluation copy, Build 7100" appear. Is this right?
And why are the backgrounds now limited? I do not want a full color picture (hard to read icons) and am sick of that beta fish. I would like one of the pretty shaded "light play" images like I had before.
I am having a hard time evaluating because of all of the quirky things ... I thought that by upgrading from Vista, I would have less work to do, but I cannot imagine that a clean install could be more annoying.
By the way, I like Vista and enjoyed the Beta, so my general expectations were positive.
