Importing Videos from a Camera via Windows 7 Media Center

How do I import videos from a camera with Windows 7 Media Center?

Answer

You can import media directly from some media devices, such as digital cameras. When you import media from a digital camera, the files will be stored in the My Pictures folder in Windows.

1. Click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Center.
2. If Media Center is not in full-screen mode, click the Maximize button.
3. Connect your digital camera to your computer. Cameras are usually connected to a USB port.
4. In the dialog that appears, click Import pictures and videos.
5. If you want to change the name of the folder where your media will be stored, type a new name.
6. Click Import. Media Center will copy the files to your My Pictures folder.

Note:

If you have video files in addition to pictures on your digital camera, they will be imported to the My Pictures folder. To see them in the Video library in Media Center, you'll need to first move the files to the My Videos folder in Windows Explorer.
