Hi,
I am waiting for the "Free Upgrade to Win7" CDs. While waiting I am running the Win7 beta, including some of the TVT-programs. On my X301 (2776-LEG) boot-time from "power on" to having a browser with internet is about 1 minute 30 sec. It is not too bad - but faster is always better ![]()
Questions:
Will the EE-tweaks come as a "program" that can be downloaded and implemented on the Win7 beta?
All the best,
Christian

Christian, most of the Enhanced Experience components will be downloadable off lenovo.com very soon. The "EE" BIOS for X301 is already up (any version after 3.04(6EET44WW) ).
Upgrades are generally slower than a good clean install. When you get your Win7 DVD, I encourage you to perform a fresh install then update drivers and TVTs from lenovo.com according to your preferences. You won't get all the tweaks and optimizations that are in the Win7 X301 preload, but you should still enjoy a well-performing system.
Any questions? Post away!

Yes, the SL series BIOS is among the fastest of the Thinkpad line because they do not have Intel AMT. I don't know what version came with your system but if there's an update on lenovo.com I recommend it.

So, to get my Ideapad y450 running as smoothly and quickly as possible with Windows 7 I need to:
1 Perform a fresh install
2 Update the drivers
3 Install the new BIOS
Right?
On a side note: I have ordered the upgrade, but when I check the order status it says, "Pending Payment" and I have already entered payment information. Is this normal or do I need to do something?
Thanks

Let me refer you to the chart Matt posted on his "Inside the Box" blog
http://lenovoblogs.com/insidethebox/?p=314&cpage=1
You can "build up" from a Win7 clean install using BIOS, drivers, and TVTs from lenovo.com but there are a few optimizations available only in the preload. That is the only 100% fully optimized EE environment. So Matt's answer to your question is correct - you would not get "all".
But, you can get enough to have a well-perfoming system!
