Older Lenovo Systems and Windows 7

[ Edited ]

Part 2 of the Lenovo Enhanced Experience Video interview in which Matt Kohut and John Mese talk about older Lenovo systems and how Windows 7 Enhanced Experience will help them, along with some of the limitations.

This chart may be a handy item for reference in understand support for different generations of systems, and the components of the Enhanced Experience.

What about the T60? I know it is even older than Santa Rosa but it seems to run Windows 7 as well as it runs Windows XP (if you have the ATI X1400).

Especially, I would like to know which T60 drivers are *not* going to be supported/maintained. The original Windows 7 beta drivers page listed T60 compatibility for each driver. Later all mentions of the T60 were removed from the page.

Further, the T60 driver matrix doesn't mention Windows 7 at all: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62928.html

In particular, what's the deal with the ATI X1400 driver? Are we supposed to use the Vista version? Will there be a Windows 7 optimized version? I heard that there used to be one on Windows Update, but that it got removed.

I really like some information about this too. I see no need to get rid of my t60 - it runs - even with the windows 7 rc pretty pretty good ... but come on the gpu drivers for our ati? show us some love ...
