I have to agree. I would not rush out to install Windows 8 as I think there will be some day one issues between your machine's current configuration and Windows 8. I usually wait until the first service pack is released since so many things can go wrong or not work with each other. This will be the first windows release that I have no interest in - not today and not tomorrow.
By the way, when did you place your order and when did it ship? I placed my order on June 11th and while it was suppose to ship on the 14th and then again on the 20th I have no idea of when it will ship. Congratulations! Enjoy!

Hello,
It is hard to say exactly what Windows 8 is, given the operating system hasn't been finalized yet. I have been testing Windows 8 on a slate and the ability to interact with the user interface at a fingertip level of precision via touch is very impressive. That said, on older devices without a touch screen, having to use keyboard and mouse starts to feel a little... well, dated, for lack of a better term.
I think after it ships and both Microsoft and its hardware and software ecosystem partners have had time to release a few things we will have a better idea of where it stands.

The release for Windows 8 Drivers probability will be around the time Microsoft release it software to the general public October 26. Lenovo have a website with information about the upgrade process and some know issues for some Lenovo models. For USB 3.0 support for some models you have to make a BIOS upgrade. You have to look there if this apply for your model. For graphic card, SD card and the rest of missing diver look directly from manufacture website of each component for Beta drivers or latest Windows 7 drivers, in my case V570 I found the drivers there (example Intel website for Video card, Realtek for card reader etc...).

Windows 8 RTM is here, but still no drivers
. At least, I hope for an official statement from Lenovo.
Today an official driver from NVidia was released for the 660M, so you can download it from NVidia.com. If someone was able to get the usb 3.0 running he can post here what he came through.

How does the touchpad on the Y580 work in Windows 8 ?
Does it support edge tracking, can you open the charms bar by sliding on the touchpad from the right without putting the cursor in the corner ?
