tried installing win8 on my trusty x220 today, ran into 3 issues
1. webcam not working
2. system update "an error occured while aquireing user info"
3. audio drivers fail to install in second stage returning code 0x0.
are there any workarounds atm?
everything seems to be working fine on my think center and envy

Hi ubc and welcome to the community,
System update isn't going to come up with anything anyway. There are no drivers yet for Windows 8.
How about Windows update? Any yellow tags in Device Manager?

Did you manage to get the Hotkeys installed? Or is that what you're using to adjust the volume?
You could try to update the driver manually from Device Manager. Don't let Windows install it, point the installer to the folder where the driver downloaded to. It'll probably fail, but then Windows should offer to install it in compatibility mode.
Let it.

I'm using the x220 also, and I ran into the same problems. However, I just manually installed everything importanty. Now it seems to be working rather good. Power manager is not working though.
One issue really bugs me. I have SSD, where everything is installed and then an HDD, which is mostly for data. The HDD doesn't seem to stop spinning at all, even though there's zero activity. Might be driver issue?
