Another XP install Tip

Most people know now to try compatibility mode in the bios to get rid of the BSOD's when installing XP. Another tip I found on another Forum was that some people get BSOD when installing XP due to SATA drivers/support were not created until SP2. So make sure you have at least a SP2 XP disk before you try installing.

Re: Another XP install Tip

Hi,

this is correct, the most usuall BSOD, that you get by this situation is 0x7B.

In case you want to avoid this you can do one of the following:

1) set the SATA mode to compatibility

2) install the AHCI driver when the OS CD boots. => directly when the OS CD starts to boot, then you see there the request to press F6. You press it and install the SATA driver

Cheers
