Boot defrag ServiceV002 Probs

Hi, I downloaded Smart Defrag 2.0 and after I got rid of some heavily fragmented (and memory sucking) Windows Reporting Errors files, it defragmented my C drive just fine.  I should have stopped there. *sigh*  My ServiceV002 partition thing-a-majiggie  was at 10% and after researching that I discovered optimum is 20% so I did a boot-up defrag.  When I defragmented the boot-up files with Smart Defrag, ServiceV002 dropped to 4% space left.. so I tried running Diskeeper on it instead, and there isn't even enough memory left to do that.  Help!  What happened to my ServiceV002 memory?  My system is Vista Home Basic, SP2, Lenovo with Avira, WinPatrol and Superantispyware Professional.

Ok, I ran the defrag for "Optimum Performance" instead of "Fast Optimize" like I did the other time.  Could that have affected it? i.e. higher performance, higher drain on ServiceV002?  And what are the ServiceV002 files that are safe to delete?  Where are they?

Out of curiosity, what is in the ServiceV002 volume? At 5GB, it's way too small for Vista or Windows 7.

Thanks for the response! I have no idea what's in it, nor can I find this Volume anywhere on my drive.  Additionally, when I do a search on  "Everywhere" and "Include non-indexed, hidden, and system files" there are no results.

Bizarre... Does it show up under Disk Management?
Go to Start, type in partition and click "Create and format hard disk partitions". Does it show up in there?

Would that be the Restore partition?
If so, would not need to be defraged?

Sort of.  There's no Volume or File System label, just other details:

When I originally defragmented a week or so ago there were over 30 GBs of Free Space on Volume C, and only half a GB on ServiceV002, and contrary to what this indicates, I believe there still is only about 4-6% of the 4.95 GB available

I've got some Windows Update now that didn't completely install.  Everytime my computer boots up I'm informed that Stage 3 (of 3) is installing.  Grrrrr.

I'm not sure, but Diskeeper lists it in the Volumes that can be defragmented, and I assumed it was what Smart Defrag cleaned up with a boot defrag, but..  After my system started going screwy I figured I'd Restore it to an earlier point, but there were no Restore Points!  My last pc (same operating system) created them automaticaly periodically, yet still.. I'm sure that I requested a Restore Point to be made a couple of times on this pc. Specifically when warned I should back up my files before adding something  or making changes. There is one Restore Point, but it is for ServiceV002, not my C volume, and it was dated after it started screwin' up... I think.

Try assigning a drive letter to the 4.95GB partition so you can browse it in Explorer.

Defragmenting (due to the way System Restore is implemented) causes Windows to push older restore points out of the way as it tracks the movement of files by the defragger.

How would I do that?

Go back to the Disk Management where you found all of the detailed info about the partitions, right-click the ServiceV002 partition, Change Drive Letter and Paths, Add, and choose a drive letter.

It should show up in Computer now.
