Re: Boot defrag ServiceV002 Probs

i'm on W7 Pro x64 and my ServiceV002 partition has always shown in Disk Management like so:

ServiceV002 (I:smileyhappy:
6.16 GB NTFS
Healthy (Primary Partition)

whenever i run the native MS Bachup & Restore it swells to the max and as soon as the backup completes it goes back to normal, so i assume from this behavior that it is part of system relating to recovery - but it doesn't say it's a recovery partition. as you can see mine is labeled as drive I:\

what i'm wondering now is:

1] is it in fact a recovery partition adn, if not, precisely what is it?

2] can i in fact change the drive letter without that impacting any programs/system resources which rely on it?

thx in advance for any insight here

Re: Boot defrag ServiceV002 Probs
A little Knowledge Possibly a solution to this issue. The ServiceV002 Partition I do believe is created by using a secondary Program Such as AVG PC Tools (or other) to do a Disk Defragement and OR Registry Defragmentation. The volume is created by a secondary program therefore usually is not visible in The simple Windows OS. (Can view it All in Safe Mode) I would not suggest altering these files UNLESS you intend to discontinue the use of the Program that created them. However by uninstalling the 'said' program those files 'should' delete themselves. You can or 'should' be able to manage the Allowable size of this Volume by right clicking on the volume and going into the Properties. Set Quota management to a Desirable Max size (I suggest 1 gig max depending how many programs run on this PC) As this volume is used for I beleive defraging the Registry I would allow ample space for proper storage of these files. If you have many programs on your PC you will obviously need more space to Back up the registry before defraging it. Once quota management is set files will be overwritten as is necessary. Each time you defrag is saves the files and if you have unlimited quota management then it will keep writing new files. However by limiting the quota it will overwrite Old files as needed. Now I dont profess to be a master of computers but this is to the BEST of my knowledge what the ServiceV002 Partition is.
