Hi,
I recently downgraded my Lenovo N100 from Vista to XP Home Edition SP2 after formatting the hard drive. I then downloaded the Lenovo XP drivers and installed them but have a number of problems for which I need help. The problems are as follows:
- The wireless card icon does not show up in the Network Connections or in the tak bar on the bottom right of the screen
- I have a number of question marks in the Device Manager. They are:
- Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Base System Device (3 such devices)
- Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus
- Network Controller
- SM bus Controller
- Video Controller
- Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
I would appreciate help with resolving this problem as its driving me nuts. I've formatted hard drives before on Dell laptops and never had such a hard time.
Thanks in advance.
K

Hi kwmir,
Your system is in need of drivers that can be installed from lenovo website:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-63
or automatically through thinkvantage system update:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/TVSU-UP
Hope it helps.

This is the website I downloaded the drivers from but still had problems as I outlined in my forum posting. Is there something I am not doing?? Any hints or help will be greatly appreciated.

Installing lenovo drivers is a two step process, the first setup file extracts itself to a given or default folder in C:\drivers...... you subsequently have to go there and run second setup from there. Perhaps this is the problem.
Hope it helps.

Thanks for the help and pointers. The last pointer worked. Now I only have one device with a question mark in the Device Manager....Its showing a yellow question mark in front of the SM Bus Controller. How do I fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.

For SM Bus Controller, intel chipset driver is required:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
Be sure to follow the last pointer in this case also
You're welcome ![]()
