Ok, this is not my laptop, i am fixing it for a family member.
I had to reinstall windows xp pro SP3 because it had some major viruses, but now that i have reinstalled it, i cannot get the key on the sticker in the back to work. I called microsoft and they said to contact you guys. I know the key had to have worked before, why isnt it working now? and yes i have made sure that ive typed it right.

the serial number on the sticker only works with Lenovo OEM OS, it would not work with aftermarket win xp os. Your friend needs a lenovo recovery disk set.

you can try calling Microsoft's activation help, see what they say, but the problem is you're using the wrong type of install cd.

For XP, they will tell you to call the OEM company, which is Lenovo.
