Screen dims for no reason

Hello: I have this weird problem where my thinkpad t61 screen, for no apparent reason, slowly dims almost to complete darkness, then immediately brightens up as if nothing happened. The entire process can take between 10 to 30 seconds, and I have not seen any pattern or reason why this might occur. Any suggestions to eliminate this problem would be appreciated.

hey jbautista,

i would recommend checking the power manager first, it could be a setting inside that is causing this.

another thing you can do is to uninstall the power manager. Leave it be and then see if the screen dims automatically.

i have an edge 11, also having the same experience..after i boot up the screen automatically dims, needs to press f8.

If I uninstall the power manager, how do I reinstall it - am i supposed to get a new setup from the internet?

Hello jbautista,

The issue could be with the inverter board.

Kindly update the latest BIOS and update video driver and power manager software, check if it resolve the issue else get it check with Lenovo authorized service center
