Dead pixel, can the LCD be replaced?

Hi, I found that there are dead pixels on the screen of my X301. Can the LCD be replaced under warranty? This X301 is given to me by my friend without any warrenty proof documents.  But I can find from Lenovo web site that it is under warrenty until 2012 using the serial NO. The microsoft vista COA was also taken away from it. Can this still be under warrenty?  Thanks.
