Hello,
I have a Thinkpad X61 (7762WFX) at work. Then pen works fine, but I was under the impression that I should be able to interact with just my finger on the screen. If this is indeed the case, how do I go about doing that. I have updated the multitouch drivers to the newest.
I am on Windows 7 Professional.
Thanks!

Hi rigwad and welcome to the community,
Some screens are pen only and some are pen and touch.
Go into control panel, system. About the middle of the page it will say pen and touch. What does it say after that? Does it say that you have pen and touch?

Hi Dave,
It says "Pen and Touch Input Available with 80 Touch Points"

OK, good.
Go back into Control Panel, there should be something called pen and touch. Open it. In the window that opens, click touch.
Make sure that "Use your finger as an input device" is checked. If it isn't, check it and click apply.
In the same window, then click settings. At the bottom of the window that opens, it will say "Test settings". There should be a picture of a door there. Double click the door with your finger. If using your finger doesn't work, use your fingernail to tap the door with. The door should open and then tapping it again should close it.
If all this works, say ok, then while you're still in Control Panel, open Tablet PC settings, Click setup, then click touch input. Touch the screen that opens to identify it as the touchscreen. See if your touch registers. If it does, say okay and try the touchscreen in Windows, but remember how to get back to that window in case you have to calibrate the touchscreen.
Before I calibrate anything, I always set a Windows restore point just in case calibration doesn't work too well. I can get the original calibration back by restoring.
See if any of this works.

Hi Dave,
The "Use finger as an input device" is checked.
I cannot open the door with my finger or fingernail.

Ok, let's make sure the driver actually installed.
Go into Device Manager and click open Human interface devices.
See if there's a Penabled Multitouch driver installed there.
Post here exactly what's listed.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the sxga+ panels pen only input and not multitouch? Hope I'm wrong.

Yeh, the sxga panels are only pen only, but bringing up his model number shows that the xga panels were also available.
I guess we need to know what the resolution of his screen is.
So far, bringing up Control Panel, System always told me correctly what was available, Pen, or Pen and Touch in all my tablets.
His says Pen and Touch.
I would hate to think that Windows is reporting this wrong, but I've been surprised before.
