Thinkpad X220 Tablet WWAN , 3G module

Dear All:

I have a thinkpad X220 Tablet which does not have the WWAN 3G/GSM card , and I was looking to get one for it since it has the sim card slot and the antenna .

But I remember that my Thinkpad W500 has the WWAN module and since I got the X220 Tablet I do not use that one outside of my house anymore and now it's more a desktop , I thought maybe I could put the WWAN module on the W500 inside the X220 Tablet. I know they both use the same port but I'm not sure if they physical fit and if it's really possible to do so.

So if you guys know anything about this please let me know, thank you very much guys.

Hello siavashghahrema,

Here is a helpful link from similar forum with WWAN on a W500:

Re: Thinkpad X220 Tablet WWAN , 3G module

this won't work, as the X220t would have a BIOS whitelist on the type of WWAN card that would work in the machine. The W500's era WWAN card would not be in the internal whitelist, and as such you would get an error when you boot the device, which would say unauthorised card installed.
