X200 Tablet sound

Hi,

My X200 Tablet's sound controll is very poor. When adjusting volume to 0, the sound is 0. But if I turn up the volum to 1, the descible level is rather high - almost jumping to a medium level of my X60 Tablet. From volume level 1 and further up to 25 the adjustment is more or less linear.

This is really anoying when I want to use my computer when travelling, putting on some soft background music or other things, as there is no level that is equal to a low level volume. To get the same level of sound when having the volume adjusted to 1, that I have on my X60 Tablet, or other computers for the sake, I have to use the program interal volume control to adjust the volume as well. For watching a movie in VLC (www.videolan.org) at the same sound level "1" as for the X60 Tablet, I have to turn the X200 Tablet's volume level to 1, and the the internal volume control in VLC to 5%, instead of just leaving it at 100% as it is on the X60 Tablet.

I tried to adjust the volume with the ThinkVantage buttons, the windows volume from both in the tray window and from control panel.

Anyone got a clue where the problem is, and what I am doing wrong? ThinkVantage System Update should be up to date with all drivers installed I think.

Best regards,

OAB

Re: X200 Tablet sound

I have now installed Windows 7 on my X200 Tablet, and after installing Windows 7 the sound issue was automatically solved. Why this was a problem on XP, I never spent enough resources to find out and remains a mystery, but it leads me to think it was problems with software / drive incompatability.

It is nice to have a normal working computer, having the same or better stability as Windows XP, with the same features and more than Vista. So for you that might encounter the same problem, not finding a solution for XP, I can recommed get Windows 7 Ultimate.

Hi,

Download this, if you haven't yet, and let it do the job for you: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/TVSU-UPDATE.html

If that doesn't do the trick, or you already have it, go to the Device Manager and remove all sound devices that is listed there for your computer and restart it.

I suspect you haven't the Thinkvantage System Update (link above), as you say that your buttons do not work either.

Regards and good luck :smileyhappy:
