X200 bios cmos password error

My bios wouldn't let me edit or update settings so i thought removing the cmos battery and reseting it would allow me to, i have a password on the bios and i remember it but when booted it says restoring default settings, but will not accept my password??? any ideas?

this is the supervisor password that you activated, did you remember entering it?
