Hi all
I am having trouble with the internal SIM card messages with the SIM service on my X201 tablet. The SIM itself is working fine and I am able to connect without a glitch.
The problem I am having though is my provider in South Africa sends text (SMS) messages with a security pin to my number when I log into the provider's website. Until now the only way I can retrieve these messages is to shut down, remove the SIM, install it into a phone, read the message, shut the phone down, reinsert the SIM in the laptop and boot up. Usually by this time the security pin has changed.
Is there any way to access SIM messages and other services directly through the OS or some application to avoid having to shut down repeatedly?
Thanks very much in advance.

I think there was a message on these forums (maybe in the ThinkVantage Technologies subforum) where they stated this feature is expected in a future release of Access Connections.

Hey pc_clone
Yeah I saw that but when I checked dates on these kinds of statements from Lenovo staff they were pre-Ver 5.62. Since then the 5.62 update was released and still loads of pissed off people that this was not solved. I think people would be more understanding if Lenovo would make a statement explaining any issues if any and what is causing the delay. Seems people now just think Lenovo doesn't give a sh!t and don't care for the plight of the little guy.
How far in the future is this future release?
Thanks for your comments mate!

Hello mate,
Go to access connections>tools>global settings and tick the box enable SMS features. Then under tools you have the SMS button in green. go there to receive and send SMS.

I am sending text messages from the X201T to a bluetooth connected cellphone. I've never heard of this other method of texting where you insert a card into the laptop. Interesting.
