I recently got my x201 and every 2 days I get a blue screen for less than a second, resulting in the computer restarting. I've used the thinkvantage toolbox to see what errors and changes were occurring on the same days as the unexpected shutdowns, and every day it was Windows Defender changing an option from true to false. I disabled Windows Defender (I use another separate firewall and AV anyway) and updated all of the Lenovo software, including the optional updates. Two days later(today) the blue screen displayed, immediately followed with a restart. Windows Defender did not have a log entry, and there were no other entries that occurred on all of the other days that this has happened. How can I stop this? I bought the computer to take notes during classes and if I can't trust it to not restart during the middle of class, then I can't use it.
I'm current with all of the windows updates and the lenovo updates.
PC details: Windows 7 64 bit, 4 gigs RAM (1 DIMM), 250 gig 5400 RPM HDD, Bluetooth, Intel 6300 wifi, no multitouch
Thanks for the help

seems kinda weird that it happens every 2 days. like maybe something is trying to update on a timer or something. are you using anything specific when this happens or does it just happen whenever you're doing anything?

you did say that you turned off windows defender, right? that won't run right with mse. you could try going to control panel, administrative tools, event viewer and see if there are any events recorded. on the right choose view log and if there is a log file saved it should allow you to at least see it. i see that you posted on a couple of different forums, any luck?

I went through the older events and I am noticing a couple of system events occuring just before BSOD.

On the most recent BSOD there wasn't anything about the filter manager (maybe because I got rid of Avast?) but there was this:

These blue screens aren't occuring right after startup, so I don't know why it keeps happening a few seconds after the OS start up logs. The OS had been running for a few hours usually beforehand.
