X220t blue screen of death

When I connect my x220t to my 47" HDTV through hdmi with hdmi to display port adapter, the picture comes up, but it is not the right proportions. I try to fix this by going to screen resolution or graphics properties, but as soon as I change a setting in either, my x220t either shows the blue screen, or just no picture at all and has to restart. I connected to my 25" hd monitor through hdmi and hdmi to display port adapter so those are not the problem. Help please!

Re: X220t blue screen of death

hey monkeyking,

if the 47" causes a blue screen and the 25" works; i probably think it could be more of a limitation of the display port.

if possible, could you test with a different tv size? one that is between the two sizes and one above 47"

Re: X220t blue screen of death

Mokeyking,

Do you have specs on the native resolution for your 47" and 25" TVs?    Are they both 16:10 or 16:9 or is the 25" 16:9 and the 47" 16:10 perhaps?

Just wondering if we are winding up with a non-native resolution since you note the distorted aspect ratio.

What resolutions are you selecting on the laptop?

Mark

Re: X220t blue screen of death

Apparently it was the adapter. I recently bought a new adapter, this time a cable with a male display port and a male hdmi port and it works like a charm. The old one that was a male display port to female hdmi port does not work. That is the solution. Thank you for your help!
