My battery is not part of the recall (42T5209) however it has all the symptoms of the recalled batteries.

I was on battery with ~78% battery life left. I shut down the computer and turned it back on several hours later, or at least I tried to. No go!! Plugged the laptop in and got a flashing battery error.

Battery is showing 78% charge left, displays the battery voltage however AMPERAGE IS AT 0.00%.

Called IBM/Lenovo and opened up a case, however all they can do it 15% off the cost of the battery.I am past the 1 year warranty on the battery.

What I do not understand it why they are covering certain batteries and not ALL batteries that have the issue...

Update: Well the battery IS PART OF THE RECALL, however I am past the "6 month" extended warranty coverage.

Edit2: Battery only has 98 cycles...

hi,

i now have the same problem. the battery just died and i have a flashing orange battery icon, the software tells me the battery is at 90% charge.

i read in the forum that the charging unit of the mainboard might be damaged if you keep running your notebook whilst the icon is flashing.

what was your solution? did you just buy a new battery and it worked again?

I replaced the battery, no more problems.

The battery is a replacement OEM. I tried to order direct from Lenovo and was told a 6 week delivery time. I ordered from NewEgg and got it the next day!
