I have an X60 tablet and recovcery CDs but no built in or external CD drive. Is it possible to instal the recovery disk contents onto a USB key and use that to boot up the tablet? I need to do this because I tried to do a system restore only to discover all my restore points are compressed, so I am stuck in limbo until I can run recovery and decompress them.

Hello mate,
If you still have the recovery partition you don't need the CD. to recover just press the blue button after turning on your computer and restore to factory defaults.

Thanksk Vince69. Ok that's reassuring, so at least I know I can get it back to the original state. Do you or others know if this will wipe all subsequent restore points off the partition? I'd ideally like to back up to a more recent restore point to save me going back to reinstalling all the software I bought. As a last ditch I can reinstall all the software but would sooner avoid that, if at all possible!
Cheers
matt

It will format the HDD. You can make a backup with R&R in an external HDD before reinstalling and restore your backup after.
Be sure to do the backup and restore it with the same version of R&R otherwise it won't work.

Thanks. It looks like I will prob have to go for the factory reset after all since R&R is not recognising my external HDD or giving an option for creating copies of the backups... and I can no longer get XP because the backups are all compressed.
