X61 Tablet Screen tilting

Hello,

My X61 Tablet (7764-CTO) monitor turns off when tilting to the tablet mode. It turns off half way to tablet mode. When it does, you can tell the screen is still on by the background light, but no windows screen displayed, like there is no feed. Similar to the disconnected VGA Cord on a regular PC.

It happened all of a sudden. Any advice?

The cables are pretty robust on these, but if the backlight is still on, it sounds like the cable to me.

If the cable is disconnected, then the screen won't turn on. Mechanically, it disconnects while tilting. So, could the end of the cable disconnects as it stretches while tilting? If so, which end do you suspect?

What does that mean?

I am guessing, since I don't have the laptop to test. I am guessing that one of the wires in the cable is cracked somewhere and it makes intermittant contact
