I have a 2007 era X61 tablet, and the fan / heatsink combo went bad (squeeling noise, grinding noise, then no airflow)
From the sticker on the bottom, the Type is 7767-02U, S/N xxxxxxx 08/07 (I'm guessing the 08/07 is the date code)
according to Lenovo, here are the specs:
L7500(1.6GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 12.1in 1024x768 LCD, Intel X3100, Intel 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, Secure chip, X6 UltraBase+CDRW/DVDRW, Fingerprint reader, 8c Li-Ion, WinXP Tablet 2005
I looked on lenovo's parts manual for the laptop, and find 6 different options for fan assembly (part #25 at this link Parts diagram, go to part labeled as 25
I'm unsure which fan I should order, and I want to get it right so I dont waste more time and money.
If someone could explain which fan I need, it would be greatly appreciated, as I can't seem to find an option to email lenovo directly to ask
Thank you
Eric

Welcome to the forum!
Your X61T calls for FRU # 42X4399
This is the correct parts list page for your unit:

George - Thank you very much. I was clearly looking at the wrong parts diagram for what I needed. This parts diagram is much more helpful and useful (obviously since its for the right model!)
Parts will be ordered in the later AM. Can't wait to rebuild this baby and put her back to good use.
THanks again
Eric

Eric,
You're very welcome.
Enjoy the final 4:3 ThinkPad model line as long as you can. I know I will.

The only other problem this laptop has is the batter catch is broken
Not the actual spring latch in the corners of the battery, but a little tiny sliver of plastic on the side where it slides in. Apparently this little piece of plastic slides into a notch on the battery and holds it secure
Somehow the piece of plastic broke, so now the battery flops everywhere.
Only solution I could think of was order a new Base Cover Assembly (Part 20), but that part number doesn't register when I try to order from the lenovo / IBM site
If you've got a solution for that, I'll enjoy it for many years to come!
