X61 says "battery not installed" while running on battery power!?

Hi all,

At the moment I am typing this, my X61 tells me that no battery is installed, but it is actually running on battery power. When I reboot, I get a criticaly low battery message, although I measure 15.6 V at the battery terminals. When I boot with the AC adapter and pull that out as soon as I get the Windows start up screen, I can continue to work on battery power.

Does anybody have an idea how I should get either my X61 or my battery pack intothe correct state?

Thanks for you attention and replies!

Re: X61 says "battery not installed" while running on battery power!?

hey picobre,

welcome to the forums.

i would like you to try this.

1 - do a battery gauge reset via Power Manager
2 - use and drain the battery completely
3 - leave it as it is overnight and the next day charge it with the adapter. do not use it at this junction
4 - once charging is completed, start up with out the adapter connected to it.

do you get any message saying that the battery is at critical level ?

5. after logging into windows, wait for 2 mins and restart your unit.
6. since this is a hot reboot, are you still getting the message of critical battery level ?
