x220 Tablet - "Never Lost Pen" how does it work?

Just got a x220 tablet.   In the press releases I keep seeing this "Never Lost Pen" technology that's suppose to give you audible alert when you walk away from your stylus.    I've tested it and don't hear anything.   I've looked around for a configuration screen for it and I don't see one.

Does it work for anyone?   Anything I have to do to configure it?

Is there really such a feature? This is the first time I heard of it.

I searched on Google and found the feature mentioned but with no real information, if anyone knows anything about this feature please chime in because I for one had never heard of it as well.

@steveh0627,

Interesting. I did a search and found several review sites on the X220t which is mentioning this feature as well.

Let me check with engineering team.

Re: x220 Tablet - "Never Lost Pen" how does it work?

yeah, that was one of feature that caught my attention when I was buying it.   It's mentioned in pretty much every "preview"   - they probably all copy/pasted from some press release since most of them don't actually get a unit to review.

Pretty funny that no one's even heard of this feature, not even the Lenovo staff.

@steveh0627,

Don't have a X220t to test it with :smileysad:

Will get back to you on it.

Interesting, I heard about this when I was considering the laptop, but I completly forgot about it tell now. Doesn't make a sound or anything.

Re: x220 Tablet - "Never Lost Pen" how does it work?

@All,

Engineering have explained to me the "Never-Lost-Pen" technology and how it works.

Anytime the tablet meets the following criteria, there will be a "OSD" like the following showing in the center of the screen

Tablet pen.JPG

1.  anytime you rotate the screen to/from tablet mode and the pen is not in the holder
2.  anytime you resume from standby after moving the system and the pen is not in the holder

Do note that there is no audible alert, just a notification on the lower center of the screen when it meets the criteria as above.

Interesting... so that's what that symbol meant. I misplaced my pen already.
