Hi,
I'm in progress of downloading drivers for X61 for Windows XP and I've just read the readme.txt file about a BIOS update.
In this readme file I can read that I have to have the Ultrabase X6 docking station in order to be able to update the BIOS (no other devices are supported).
My question is: can I do it by using an external Lenovo CDRW/DVD drive connected through USB rather than through the docking station?
If yes, can you modify the readme file? here is a link to it: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/documen
Regards.

Hi trismarck, and welcome to the Lenovo User Community!
The bootable CD-based BIOS update can't be done from an external USB drive
.
If you can't use the Windows-based BIOS update, copy the update files from the bootable CD iso to a bootable MS-DOS USB memory drive and run it from there (this method is not officially supported and at your own risk).
And lastly, if you don't see a specific fix or update you need in the BIOS update, why not just stick with your current version?
Hope this helps!
