TYPE 3249-2FU
PRODUCT ID: 32492FU
BIOS Version 1.05 (6QET35W)
BIOS Date 2010-01-26
Windows Professional X64
I received a used x201 3249-2FU with 8GB RAM and 500GB hard drive.
I have two questions about the unit:
1. In the BIOS setup -- Config\CPU the Interl (R) Vitualization Technology and Intel (r) VT-d Feature are set to Disabled and [Enter] is graye out for both and I cannot move the cursor down to them to enable them.
2. The exit point for the heat and the bottom of the unit get extremely hot. The left side of the bottom is painful to touch.
Is this normal or is this a defective unit?

I am in the BIOS which is why I could see that the two virtualization options were grayed. The other two in the CPU setup were enabled. The question is whether or not the 3249-2FU fully supports vertualization.
I believe I said I received a used unit.
The unit is overheating as it shuts itself off after extended disk access.

yes your CPU supports it. Can you change any other options within the bios?
Not sure about the shutting off, but most likely you got a dirty fan and heat vane that needs to be cleaned.
