Re: 90w UltraSlim adapter leads to unusable, jumpy touchpad

I have the update driver and now the problem is different but it's equally UNUSABLE. I'll move my finger and sometimes the system doesn't even respond (as if I haven't touched it). Also getting some random jumping and when it does sort of work, it's lagged.

I've gotten the same results from various outlets including very, very clean regulated power outlets (in our server room).

I'm also starting to think that his is a pure hardware issue.

Re: 90w UltraSlim adapter leads to unusable, jumpy touchpad

so its a couple of weeks from a year of the original post now

at least 2 people think its a hardware issue

which is in part proven by the lack of a real fix, not one that ignores touchpad movements to get rid of noise and makes some tasks impossible with the touchpad

it's a very annoying issue

lenovo support, can we get a hardware replacement if that is the case? or an explanation that this is not the case here?

Re: 90w UltraSlim adapter leads to unusable, jumpy touchpad

Attention: Lenovo Support

1) This issue has now been active for 1 year without a satisfactory resolution.

2) Ignoring an issue does not make it "go awaY"

3) Ignoring it just increases customer dissatisfaction.

4) Personally, I am very unhappy with the seemingly total disinterest on Lenovo's part in achieving a final and satisfactory solution.

5) As much as Ilike my X220 with the IPS Screen, I am actively and seriously considering selling it and purchasing a fully functional and debugged laptop (or tablet) from one of the other major manufacturers.

With regrets

[ Edited ]

All,

We do have a firmware fix, but it is currently in a complex form to deliver - not like normal BIOS / driver update.

We are working on a way to package it and make available to you.   Please give us a few more days and I should have a target date for when we can make this available (will be soon)

Thanks

Mark

Re: 90w UltraSlim adapter leads to unusable, jumpy touchpad

I would like to say THANK YOU to d3j452 (and even Bibbleq) for addition prodding to get Lenovo to respond.

As for Lenovo's repsonse, I have to say, this has been handled HORRIBLY. I can't believe you would consider this a "Professional" product with this kind of "beta testing". Every X220 owner should be paid for their unintentional participation in Lenovo's "Quality Control" process.

Re: 90w UltraSlim adapter leads to unusable, jumpy touchpad

18bravo,

You know, I have to agree.  We took a long time on this one and we went silent  for long periods of time.

I apologize.  I know this has been a real aggrevation.

bibbleq, dej452,

Since you both volunteered, I've sent an email to you via the email associated with your forum account (just in case you have several).   The email should contain 3 files.

1)  A word doc with instructions

2) A code flash executable

3) The firmware code as a .img file

Engineering says this update can take 15 to 20 mins to apply, so I would do this when you can let the machine do its thing for a while.  Pending your feedback, we'll move ahead with a page on our support site that will include instructions and advisory, and the files for download.  As this process takes more than a normal amount of time for an update, and because not everyone is going to need this (latter versions of the touchpad already have the later firmware) we won't include this on the normal download page.

I should note that our internal AV software flagged the .img file based solely on the file extension.  Hopefully it came through, and hopefully your email AV filtering won't strip it out.  If so, let me know and will find another way to deliver it.

Thanks

Mark
