Well, spoke too soon. It's now 98% charged with the 90w attached, and the behavior has started to occur again.
I am going to try disconnecting the battery and will report back shortly.
Edit: The problem continues even with no battery attached.
This is certainly not looking good.

Okay, so I am on the phone with support in Atlanta as we speak.
Get this: I am being told that ALL 90w adapters are incompatible with this system. ALL. Can anyone confirm this?

First time posting. First time owning a TP is so many years. Anyway, using a 90w slim and exact same problem. When using the nub to move the mouse around the screen, though it works, I also see pauses in it.
I also got a slice battery. The 90w slim connected to it works just fine. So it is only when it is plugged directly into the TP.
Hope this helps and let me know what they tell you. I might be returning it.
As you probably know, the main product page for the 220X mentions buying and using the 90w adapter.

@OtherSteve
All 90w adapters? So that covers the issue I saw with my standard 90w adapter too. It's interesting - I wonder why.

Fascinating. So it seems that this is indeed the case--and that Lenovo either needs to correct this issue with a BIOS/firmware update, or stop selling 90W UltraSlim adapters with their systems.
I truly appreciate your input. JameZ (or anyone else with Lenovo), could you please chime in regarding this problem?

Guys--
Are you by chance also using an MSATA SSD? Just a wild shot in the dark at other things which may lead to these problems.

I am not using SSD. The 90W adapter works fine when powering through the slice battery, so I would think it is just in the power part of the TP, though I am no expert. The battery management software part does show it knows the 90w adapter is being used, so it is recognized properly.

I am also confiming the problem. I have an ultraslim 90watt adapter, and see the exact same issue. Can someone from Lenovo please submit this issue to engineering?
I'm from the USA, so the issue is happening with a 120volt input.

Preliminarily, it seems as though every X220 has this problem. I hope it's fixable via some sort of BIOS or firmware update, but I'm not so sure. It'd be great to hear something from someone at Lenovo regarding the problem.

Hate to bump, but has this issue been referred to engineering? It is a legitimate problem and something needs to be done about the sale of the 90W UltraSlim adapter as a valid accessory if it cannot be corrected via a BIOS/firmware update.
