90w adapter instead of 65w ?

hi, does anyone know that one can use a 90 w adapter on the x220 machines instead of the shipped 65w adapters ? and if so, is it an advance ?

There's an issue with it that hasn't been resolved yet.  I'd keep an eye on that other thread to see what gets resolved.

Re: 90w adapter instead of 65w ?

Hi reg1 and topmahof!

Just to clarify, you can use a regular 90W adapter. I use one with my X220 almost every day, no problems.

That thread is discussing an issue which occurs specifically with the UltraSlim 90W travel adapter.

Hope this helps!

Bananaman, thanks for the clarification.

reg1, yes a 90 watt adapter would be an advance.  The higher wattage adapter that you use, the less work it has to do to keep up with power demands and the cooler it should run.

Re: 90w adapter instead of 65w ?

More advantage from using regular or slim 90W adaptor is that you won't face the CPU throttling issue like the 65W adaptors do.
