Re: Alternative power adapters for the X220

The SNA95 is detected as a 90W adapter both directly connected and through the Ultrabase 3. Charges and no issues I can detect, no change in heat produced that I can perceive or detect with an IR thermometer.

Re: Alternative power adapters for the X220

I can confirm that the FSP NB L90 resolves any throttling problems or any jumping cursor issues.

I swapped between my 90W Lenovo Ultra-Slim and the FSP NB L90 and the erractic cursor goes away.

The SNA 95 has arrived. It's about the same size as the new 90W Dell adapters, so maybe not as small as I was hoping. The Dell adapters struggle to put out 90W without getting dangerously hot though.

The output voltage is 19.5V with no load, so only 0.5V below the rated input voltage of the x220. I've yet to encounter a laptop that can't deal with ±1V. I just can't see anyway they could design a DC-DC converter so badly that it could only take 20V.

This is good to hear. I can get this adapter for $60 locally here. I do prefer a wider, but slimmer adapter, so I may just try it out!

Re: Alternative power adapters for the X220

I have problmes to find the usn 95 adapter, so just today I bought a NGS 100W adapter.

Men, i cannot run at full speed with this adapter, without battery.

What can I try? of course i select full performance, but the processor speed is always 800 Mhz.

any suggestion?

Re: Alternative power adapters for the X220

I think that the regular Lenovo 90W adapter is only about an inch longer. I want to say less than an inch, but I do not actually have one with me.

I also bought the Cooler Master USNA-95W, no throttling and no erractic cursor.

Re: Alternative power adapters for the X220

Read about how the system behaves with the battery out here:

Cheers.
