less than two weeks old and I dropped my X120e, did a good job on the screen, so my question is, is it cost effect or even possible to just purchase a new screen?

Well, this is one way of doing it.

If you purchased with a credit card, you should try contacting them to see if they offer any sort of "purchase protection" program. Often, they'll cover things you bought on the card for 90 days against theft or accidental damage -- here's American Express's program as an example: https://www212.americanexpress.com/dsmlive/dsm/dom
I've never done this myself, so I don't know if it would apply to electronics, but you have nothing to lose other than a few minutes of your time

Thank you for this!
I dropped mine and the screen broke but it is looking like it'll be covered by my card!
