It's good to hear that something is being done to fix these faulty IPS screens on the x220(t).
We are all waiting now to see exactly what gets done, so that we can decide if we are able to continue trusting Lenovo to stand behind the quality of its products and the loyalty of its customers.
I for one would like to keep my Thinkpad, and just get a "properly" working replacement screen for it.

I don't remember any official word on whether anything is being done.
I especially liked the idea of finally getting a better screen (I'm tired of constantly tilting my screen to find its narrow sweet angle) -- (and don't get me started on 16:10 or even 4:3 aspect ratios!) -- I hope this just proves to be a bad batch of panels, and that a replacement batch is coming soon.

Didn't you read Mark's post on the previous page here?

I sure did. But, imho, "we're looking into it" != "we're doing something to fix it".

My interpretation would be that yes they are investigating the situation. Without looking into a situation and finding the root cause, there can never be a solution.

Yes, I do believe they're investigating the situation. But, to my ear, "investigating" isn't the same as "something is being done to fix these faulty IPS screens."
Per this earlier post Mark_Lenovo said: "the contacts I have spoken with consider this a normal characteristic of the panel" -- and it's not clear to me whether that will wind up the official position.

I too have distinct ghosting on my x220 tablet and significant light leakage on the bottom and right hand sides of the screen. I gave it a couple weeks to see if the leakage or ghosting resolved itself, but it's as distinct and disappointing as ever.
Unless there is another proposed solution, I'm assuming this is a support issue?

I fail to see how the "faint ghosting" or "image persistence" is normal or within specification (other than the fact that the specifications were too loosely defined and certain factors were overlooked when the IPS panels were incorporated as a part of the laptop). If it is a design oversight, I hope Lenovo's response isn't just "it's working as designed" (even though that would be true as well, because design oversights does mean such undesired behavior is still within specification).

Agreed. I've been loyal to Thinkpads due to quality and support, I hope this is made right.
