Re: Faint Ghosting on X220 IPS screen

[ Edited ]

Sent in on the 6th to have LCD replaced. Got it back today.

The new panel is much better with respect to ghosting. Like others have said, the ghosting is still there, but it's far less noticable. I had to go looking for it so for now, I'm happy :-)

Thanks to all!

You could try tools like "SiSoft Sandra Lite". These may be able to show you some data about your LCD like manufacturing date and alike.

EDID : 1.03

Where would it show the date exactly?

Re: Faint Ghosting on X220 IPS screen

Sorry but SiSoft Sandra Lite is maybe not "pro" enough. I checked with AIDA64 Extreme Edition but the only thing i got back was that my disply was build in 2010 (no exact date or something)... i'm not sure how trustworthy these statement of the program is (afterall it's just a demo version) and i'm now a bit worried myself again...

Re: Faint Ghosting on X220 IPS screen

found something in the depths of the internet: softMCCS

looks like it's only for displays and a lot more detailed than AIDA64.

Looks like mine says 2010 still ... I don't think I got the new LCD. They put in an old one, dammit...I told them specifically the new FRU too.

relax.   all three versions say "2010" in the EDID.   i've checked new and old FRUs to confirm.

the only way to confirm is to look at the physical decal on the back of the display.   however, i don't recommend this unless you're technically inclined and promise not to blame lenovo service if you damage your display in the process.

if your replacement panel doesn't have image retention issues then it's a new panel.   no disassembly required. :smileywink:
