How to find part number for a machine?

Question

Sometimes we do not wish to send our machine into service centre and would like to fix the system ourselves, i.e. keyboard. 

There are so many different parts for different type of machines. How do i know the right part number for a machine?

You may download Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM) from Lenovo Support Site

• Go to Lenovo Support Site, click Product & Parts Detail on the left panel of the page

• If you're using the support site for the first time, you'll be prompted to insert some keywords, product numbers of machine type models into Quick Path.
   
• Key in the machine type model (MTM) of the unit you want to find the parts for, for instance, 7660-14A.

• You will be seeing a page loaded with product and part details.
• Click Parts Detail Tab. Look for Hardware maintenance information category as showed below.
• Click on the Hardware Maitnenace Manual Index - ThinkPad.

• Another index page full of thinkpad list will be showed. Choose the model you are looking for, for example, T61 - 14 inch. with MTM 7660-14A.
   
• Click on the link will eventually lead you to HMM pdf.
