I have been the proud owner of the new X1 thinkpad laptop for a few weeks. I even ordered the slice battery which came this past week. I used my X1 last night, then I shut it down and left it charging (with the slice battery installed too) overnight as I had to leave for a trip the next day. At the airport, I tried to turn my laptop on and nothing happened. No power to anything. I thought well maybe the batteries are dead because maybe it did not shut down and so I plugged in my AC adapter. NOTHING. So now I am traveling with a 4+ pound brick in my briefcase. The only sign of life is a small round green led near the yellow ac adapter port on the back of the laptop does light up when I plug in the ac adapter. The normal charging indicator on the top rear of the lid does not light up. I have treated this machine with a high degree of care, no spills, no drops nothing. It is in pristine condition. I must say the purchase of this thinkpad was my first foray into the thinkpad world since IBM sold the laptop line to lenovo. As I type on my wife's beat up acer with duct tape holding the hinge in place, I cannot help but feel sheepish that my new $1600+ machine won't even turn on.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Hello hox, welcome to Lenovo Forum!
I can understand this is a terrible situation for you.
Please tell us what you have done before shutting down the laptop? Updates?
Try the following procedure.
Take of all batteries and disconnect the AC adapter. Then press the power button 20 times.
Don´t know if this works, since the X1 has got an internal battery pack. If not it seems to be a case for service.

Thanks to both folks who offered a suggestion. Unfortunately, neither worked. I guess I will call service when I get back from my vacation.

Really a lot of problems with the unit. I guess they need to send us new units and/or come up with a fix.

I bought an X1 for my boss and the same thing happened over the weekend. Completely dead. Thanks Lenovo, for making me look like an idiot!
P.S. He also just received and had just begun to use the slice battery.

My client is having exactly this issue as well. He's had the X1 for a week and a half and it's been fine, but he just got the slice battery on Monday (2 days ago), and now the laptop is dead.
They went with the onsite support option in the warranty, so a Lenovo tech will be out tomorow. Lenovo doesn't seem to be aware of this issue in general (yet).
