Just want to know how this can happen. I paid for two-day shipping, but the package was circling around for so many days... 3 days in Shanghai, then go towards opposite direction to Philippines, and go back to Hong Kong... It's even slower than my friend who used free standard shipping to get out of Asia. Can anyone explain this?

Thanks!

Lenovo Shipping

intmain, I'm in the same boat. Ordered the computer 11/12/2009, estimated ship date: 11/20/2009 + 2-day shipping. I receive an email on 11/18/2009 saying my order had shipped. I received another email on 11/20/2009 telling me that there was a change made to my order and that it would ship on the 26th, despite my having already received a tracking number. As of right now the computer looks to have been sitting in China for 3-4 days.

Tracking Info:

CHEK LAP KOK, HK   11/23/2009 3:53 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
PAMPANGA, PH          11/22/2009 8:42 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN           11/21/2009 12:01 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
SHANGHAI, CN           11/20/2009 9:35 P.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
                                     11/20/2009 6:55 P.M. EXPORT SCAN
                                     11/20/2009 6:51 P.M. HUB SCAN
 SHANGHAI, CN          11/19/2009 10:09 A.M. ORIGIN SCAN
 CN                               11/19/2009 12:17 A.M.  BILLING INFORMATION RECEIVED

Order #: 2E1AK6

A few things are clear based on my and others' experiences:

1.) Lenovo has no or minimal contact between the sales, shipping, and manufacturing depts.

2.) Lenovo has no idea when your order is actually going to ship or how long it will take to receive

once it has finally shipped. See number 1 above.

3.) Two-day shipping is a scam. Plain and simple. There's no benefit gained whatsoever from paying

those ten extra dollars. See numbers 1 and 2. My guess is Lenovo wants to maintain the semblance

of being able to provide what is, for every other company, a standard luxury service.

Lenovo Shipping

I am beyond dissapointed. Not because 10, 14 or however many days is a terribly long time to wait for a custom

assembled laptop, but because I was promised one thing: a 11/20/2009 ship date + 2 business days

to ship, and received nothing. A ship time that is basically random.

I ordered the computer as a gift and it is almost certainly not going to arrive on time (11/25/2009.) Again, is it unreasonable for me to expect that I could order a custom built computer on the 12th and have it by the 25th? Perhaps. But, that's what I was promised, and that's what I paid for. Had I known the reality I would have reacted

appropriately either by ordering from a third party (Newegg would have had it here on the 14th, minus extra shipping

charges) or by ordering from a different manufacturer.

Bottom line: Lenovo's direct-to-consumer sales and shipping are inherently unprofessional. I could never recommend this kind of service to anyone. This computer had better be a gem, though by the time I receive it they may have updated the line anyways. (i.e.January)

Re: X Series Notebooks Shipping Messages

Looking forward to receiving my x200s in a day or two.

Ordered 11/25.

Shipped from Shanghai, China on 12/4.

Puttered around Shanghai for a few days before leaving on 12/7.

Arrived in Pampanga, The Philippines, on 12/8.

Went to Tao-Yuan, Taiwan from the 8th and left there late on the 9th.

Probably arrived in Anchorage on 12/9, but it gets weird with the international date line.

It appears to be sitting in Louisville, Kentucky right now, but again, unsure because the ordering of dates/times are out of sequence.

Called UPS: They expect it to be here in California by Friday.  Just in time for the weekend!

Expect time to deliver after initial order: 16 very long days.  Based on my order, there were no delays.  And, getting x200s cleared by US customs took no more than 4 hours, if I read my UPS correctly.

What'd I get?  The x200s, 3GBytes RAM, Win7 64-bit, WXGA LED screen (not the 1400x900).  Let y'all know when/if it arrives as expected late Friday....

Just to share another more positive story than we usually see in the shipping threads, my brother-in-law's sister ordered an X200s over Thanksgiving:

Order Placed: 11/29/09
Estimated Ship Date: 12/21/2009

Shipped Date:  12/10/2009

Re: X Series Notebooks Shipping Messages

Update: X200s arrived 1 day early on 12/10 (yesterday) !!!

Total time from order placed online to arrival: 15 days.

Shipping method: Default 2 day free shipping.  I suspect the term "2 day" is used rather loosely.

In the end, everything arrived in 1 piece.  All I can say is, the machine is awesome.

The ONLY disappointing thing about it...ok, actually there are two...is Windows 7.  Coming from many years on XP, all I can think is, "Wow, that's it?"

The other disappointment?  Can't seem to get Lenovo's wireless control to work.  Oh well, perhaps it's because Windows 7 wireless controls have taken over.  At least that works very well.

And, I have no regrets about the 1200 x 800 screen.  This LED screen is both bright and clear.  The picture is sharp.   And, no, you don't have to look dead-on in order for the image to look good.

Finally, I had some concern about ordering the 6 cell battery in terms of how the lack of symmetry in the back would affect typing.  Turns out it's a non-problem.  The Thinkpad lies level on a flat surface.  And, when it's on my lap, yes, one side is about 1/2 centimeter higher than the other, but the difference isn't one I notice after 10 seconds.

The sound?  Not fantastic.  Not bad.  I watched an episode of Castle from Hulu at 480p and it played smooth and the speaker sound was actually good.  Mono.  But good, and not at all muffled.

Battery life?  Don't quite know yet.  Though it appears I could do about 6 hours of wireless web browsing without going overkill on my power profile.  In other words, that's with as bright of a screen as I'd use with the AC adapter on.  Which, by the way, I do NOT have set at 100% as that's way too bright, at least with this LED screen.

Weight?  A little heavier than I imagined.  But, it's solid.  And, when carried around, feels real real good.

Smudges?  Nonexistent.

SSD?  Don't have it.  But, boy it's tempting.  I'll wait next year when prices continue to drop.

Windows 7?  Again, what's the big deal?  Some programs didn't install cleanly.  And, it took about an hour to remove the bloatware.  In the end, I have a machine that operates very much like XP but looks a tad bit nicer.

The SL9400?  FAST!  Faster than my P4 3Ghz desktop.  Boot up times are speedy, though what's puzzling is that coming out of hibernation takes almost as long as booting up from a clean shutdown.  Enhanced Experience in action?

Backup/Restore? I like the Thinkpad solution.  Basically, it's a souped-up imaging solution.  NICE.

Final thoughts - no regrets.  Even with the prospect of a new version coming out next year.  I suspect this will be with me for many many years.

Oh DVD/CD?  I went to Best Buy and got a portable one for $60.

Hi there,

The above is UPS tracking information of my brand-new x200s laptop.

Is there anyone that have any idea about what's going on my package?

Thanks,

It's just coming through customs and waiting for paperwork to sync up.  The holidays probably delayed it a bit.
