Problem: X220 Blank screen + Mute LED

Hi,

Ive got a problem with my X220: From time to time, the screen goes blank and the mute key LEDs turns on.

Its still working, I can start audio playback via hotkey etc, I just dont see anything.

The only chance of getting the screen back to work is to press the mute key.

This is pretty annoying even it only occurs every few hours. It doesn seem to be related to any certain program, sometimes it occures while gaming sometimes while having the x220 idle on desktop.

I tried reinstalling Windows 7 and changing the drivers. No improvement so far.

Any ideas?

Could be a hardware issue, but before you go the "call Lenovo" route try updating the bios to the latest version 1.29.

I have exactly the same issue.  Just began within the last couple of weeks.  I have updated the bios.

It is very infrequent and also seems unrelated to computer activity or particular programs running.  x220 is still alive, but blank screen.  I couldn't get it to wake up, so put it to sleep and then back on and it returns to normal.

Try booting into the BIOS and rock the LCD and see if the screen will go blank intermittently?

Leave laptop in BIOS will have this issue?

Mine will also do this periodically while plugged in.

My solution is to unplug it from the back, and plug it back in, then the screen comes back on and the mute light goes out.
