Symbol on screen in boot sequence

On a Thinkpad X61s, when I try to boot up I get a screen symbol with the number 1 above a battery next to a padlock. Does anybody know the meaning of this and how I can get rid of it?

Thanks

Re: Symbol on screen in boot sequence

MartinV, welcome to the forum,

I don't think it's a battery, it's a cylinder representing the hard drive. To stop the symbol appearing you need to delete the hard drive password in BIOS.

Re: Symbol on screen in boot sequence

Thanks. I've tried using the Thinkvantage button to change Bios but it's not doing anything and I didnt get the Bios on media. Any alternatives?
