I am a huge fan of the X40/X60/X61 series. I've owned three of the beasts, and could not live without one. Of their many virtues, the biggest one for me is that the screens are good enough to do serious work on.
My office has recently bought me a new X200. Oh dear, what a total disappointment! The screen is absolutely awful. Tiny and cramped, gives you eyestrain in no time. A ridiculous letterbox shape, quite unsuitable for working on documents. It's not just the size and shape, though, it's the lack of crispness and contrast in text rendering. In my favourite text editor, boldface and normal text are indistinguishable unless I pick a font so large that I get only a dozen lines on the screen. It's that bad! How a company as savvy as Lenovo could have replaced a world-beater with a turkey is very puzzling.
Anyway, my X200 is going into a drawer for the moment, and I am reluctantly looking on Ebay for a second-hand X61 to tide me over until the company get through this bad patch, and produce a worthy successor (fingers crossed).
I am posting this in the hope that Lenovo execs read this forum, and may take note. If anyone else has the same view, I hope they will make it known! Also, if anyone has a view on whether the X301's screen is better, that would be helpful. It would be too much of a risk to buy again on mail order, sight unseen.

Some people have upgraded the X200 to AFFS+/Flexiview screen which is a beaut.

My X200 screen looks the same as the X60/X61screen, but it is a fair whack behind the X61t with the SXGA+ AFFS+ screen.
