Question
The ThinkPad X1 is having cracking and popping sound whenever I play an audio track. The audio track plays fine on other devices however it only persist on the laptop.
The cracking and popping sound is also present on the laptop's internal speaker or audio headphones. Output it to external devices via DP -> HDMI port also having the cracking and popping sound. If not playing any audio file then the cracking and popping noise stop.
Answer
- Go to Lenovo Support site and download the audio driver.
- Click Start
- Select Contro Panel
- Select Programs and Features
- Look for "Conexant xxxxx SmartAudio HD"
- Highlight the software
- Click "Uninstall/Change"
- Reboot the laptop
- Double click on the .exe file of the audio driver which you downloaded earlier
- Install the audio driver
- Reboot laptop
- Play audio file.
- If problem persist, do try other media players.
