Thinkpad X1 with Core i7 international availability? (Australia)

Hello everyone

I would like to purchase the Core i7 Thinkpad X1, however I'm in Australia and this variant is not listed on the lenovo.com.au web site. I phoned Lenovo sales and they said they "had no knowledge" about the i7 X1 variant in Australia.

Can anyone shed some light on this please? Is it likely that Lenovo will roll out the i7 variant at a later date? Is there a usual Lenovo strategy for international product roll-out? I tried googling for info but couldn't find anything so far.

I'm considering purchasing in the USA but would be happy to wait a little while if I know it will come to Australia soon. If it's unlikely I'll look into other purchasing options.

All ideas welcome.

Currently, there is no i7 variant as such. Not all international model is available in Australia, and specification can vary quite a lot.

If you want the up to date information on Thinkpad product, just follow @Lenovo_ANZ twitter account and ask them.

I will try to get some information for you regarding this.

According to Lenovo ANZ the X1 with i7 will be available in a month on the online store.

will there be a quad-core i7 option or just the i7-2620M?

just dual core for now. The quad core i7 produces too much heat for the X1 to handle.
